We’ve spent too much time in the sun already this summer; and our biggest beach time is yet to come. Protect yourselves like we will in August and beyond with these tips from skincare expert, Jan Marini.
1. Protect your hair. The sun breaks down the structure of your hair, wreaking havoc on hair color and making it dry and brittle. Wear a hat and use conditioners and sprays that have UV blockers. (We use Aveda’s Sun Care Protective Hair Veil which is also water-resistant.)
2. Protect your lips. Don’t leave your mouth out of your SPF pre-sun lather. Wipe lotion across your lips and consider a lipbalm with SPF too. (Try Nars Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment.)
3. Treat your skin. We’re guitly of letting up on our regular regimen of anti-aging products in the summer for fear they’ll make our skin super sun sensitive. But, with proper protection, using glycolics and retinols in the summer will help correct and inhibit further sun damage. Just remember to always use a good SPF each morning. (Our go to is Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock.)
