For the past few years, we’ve taken the easy route and spent our winter girls’ getaways in Miami. Don’t get us wrong, we had a great time because it’s simple to get there and we find plenty to do. But this winter, we have our minds on something differerent like a trip out West and Sante Fe is on our radar. The Inn and Spa at Loretto is a perfect place to stay, located just a block from the Plaza in the heart of Sante Fe. Its adobe style and tradional materials and fabrics, are exactly what we’re looking for. Local artists are featured throughout the hotel, the pool is open year round and the spa offers old-world body treatments and healing services. The Inn and Spa at Loretto is offering a “buy three, get the fourth free” program which applies to both guestroom reservations and spa appointments, valid through December 31st, 2011.
Here’s some of our options if we go:
- The Georgia O’Keefe Museum: sadly we haven’t been to Sante Fe since the museum opened in 1997 (!). It’s the largest collection of O’Keefe’s work in the world and the only museum dedicated to a female modern artist in the country.
- Shop for some jewelry or a sweater especially because the Southwestern look is so popular right now. Plus, the holidays are right around the corner and what better place to find gifts.
- Take a cooking class or a restaurant walking tour with the Sante Fe School of Cooking. They also offer a tour of the farmers market, where you buy what’s fresh and bring it back to the school for a class and lunch.
- If we’re feeling adventurous, we could take to the slopes at nearby Ski Sante Fe. It may be smaller than Taos; but the price of the lift tickets is too.
