Last night I had the chance to catch an early screening of Disney • Pixar’s Brave about a Scottish princess who is definitely not your run-of-the-mill damsel in distress princess type. Merida did us redheads proud! The screening was sponsored by Visit Scotland, the setting for the movie.
If hearing the adorable Scottish accents and seeing the magical forests have you ready to plan a trip, check out VisitScotland/Brave. The website has itineraries and hotel suggestions to help you plan your getaway. You can also enter to win a trip for four to stay at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh and activities including an after-hours tour at the National Museum of Scotland and A VIP visit to Stirling Castle including a 30 minute archery lesson, a boat tour to track the Loch Ness monster and other fun activities.
Now back to the movie: I highly recommend you see it in 3-D. It’s fun to see the many tendrils of Merida’s hair come to life, feel like an arrow is being shot straight at you and nearly feel a bear’s breath on your face. Plus, during the obligatory scene with a song that’s a little slow, at least you get the sense that you’re flying through the Scottish countryside.
Brave opens in theaters today.
