It’s hard to believe, but Baby Linval is scheduled to make his/her appearance into the world three weeks from today!!!! Here are the beauty products that helped me make it through as comfortable as possible and stretch-mark free (so far!)
You’ve probably heard about this brand that is much loved by celebs, including Kate Middleton. Well, I’m here to tell you, it really is all that and a bag of chips. My belly was SO itchy this winter despite my slathering on copious amounts of a rich moisturizer with shea butter. It got to a point where my hubby said I looked like a crack addict because of my non-stop itching. How’s that for a visual?
Once I made the switch to this wonder duo, relief was nearly instant. Turns out, moisturizing alone isn’t enough. The Mama Mio Tummy Rub Oil is formulated with a blend of Omega 3, 6 and 9s to help increase the elasticity in your skin and keep it well moisturized. The Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter works in the same way, with the addition of shea butter to help keep skin moisturized. At week 37, I’m no longer itchy—and have nary a stretch mark. (Knock on wood!)
So the rest of my body wouldn’t get jealous about the attention paid to my belly, I spritzed on Caudalie Divine Oil after every shower. It’s made with a pregnancy friendly grape, hibiscus, sesame and argan oils. I love it after shaving my legs, in particular.
As my ankles have started to swell on the (fortunately, rare, so far) hot days, I’ve been desperate for a solution. I like the Sponge Jambes Lourdes lotion in the morning as a preventative measure. The line was created by an OB/GYN and the cream contains mastic, an herb to heal and rejuvenate and calendula and sage to calm and improve circulation.
If I forgot to use it and/or I wore uncomfortable shoes, I reach for the Thyme Maternity Soothing Leg Gel at the end of the day. It has grape extract for circulation, argan to help your cells reboot and ivy extract to help reduce swelling. Keep it in the fridge to make it extra soothing.
With coconut oil, cocoa butter and shea butter as its first three ingredients, this is one heavy duty belly butter! I like it as a special treat once or twice a week when I’m freshly showered and headed straight to bed. It also happens to be made by my favorite acupuncturist.
Unfortunately, skin doesn’t just get itchy and dry during pregnancy—I’ve had the occasional breakout, too. And while salicylic acid is a no-no during pregnancy, benzoyl peroxide is allowed. The Sonya Dakar Acne Zero has aloe and vitamin E to prevent over drying and makes my pimples disappear overnight without making me feel like I’ve regressed to a teenager.
Hope this helps any fellow preggos out there. Let me know if I missed anything that’s on your list!
