Looking for a new cocktail to enjoy while watching this weekend’s football games? If you love the buzz of tequila but hate the sweetness of margaritas, trade it in for Mezcal. Mezcal is similar to tequila in that its made from agave, but it has been around for centuries longer and has a smokier flavor.
If Mexican coffee drinks are your thing, try the Owl in the Shrubb (shown above). Simply mix equal parts El Buho and Rhum Clement Creole Shrubb then top with a shot of espresso.
For a sweet yet tangy cocktail, try a Night Owl, which is half El Buho half Golden Ginger served on the rocks.
For a drink that will warm you right down to your toes, mix up a Golden Bear. It’s 2 parts warm fresh cider, 1 part El Buho, 1/2 part Jaeger. Shake vigorously. Serve up. Sprinkle cinnamon atop and garnish with an apple wedge.
Or if you’re not the type to mix your own cocktails, head to Jake’s Steakhouse in the Bronx, which has all the cocktails and more on the menu. That’s my adorable hubby below who will gladly serve them up for you (as long as you’re of drinking age!) Ask for Leo!
