Easy Holiday Entertaining

With so many parties going on this time of year, how do you make your bash the one your friends will actually want to RSVP ‘yes’ to? By keeping it casual, yet fun.

Opt for a Sunday Funday open house, where folks can come and go as they please. The early birds can come right at the start time, your friends who like to sleep in can wander in towards the end, and your moocher friends can make themselves comfy on your sofa throughout.

Food is a must, but keep it simple. A duo of crostinis are festive and tasty at the same time. Try goat cheese topped with a sundried tomato and basil or pesto with a walnut half.

As for dessert, I will never make anything besides cookies again. I learned the hard way…in the past I’ve slaved away over layer cakes and fancy pastries only to have them passed over for a basic cookie. For the holidays I like white chocolate chip with dried cranberries.

Here’s my secret to being the hostess with the mostest: The main reason people clamor to come to my parties is that I’m known as a fun hostess because I always serve a signature cocktail. This year I’m making New Fashioned Egg Nog:

½ oz. Smirnoff Wild Honey

½ oz. Smirnoff Cinna-Sugar

4 oz Milk

A sprinkling of nutmeg

Blend the vodkas in a shaker with ice. Strain into a festive glass. Top with milk then sprinkle top with nutmeg.
