What’s better than meeting Drew Barrymore in person? Finding out she’s just as genuine, friendly and cool as she is in your fantasies of meeting her. I had the chance to chat with the new mom at the launch of her Flower Cosmetics line, which will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart.

“You know what I really wanted?” Drew Barrymore asked. “I really wanted to figure out as, a business model, how we can do this line differently. We’re putting every cent we have into our formulas. And we’re going to go to the lab and get the best formulas so women are going to be able to buy a $30 lipstick for $7.98,” she said. As a trade off, you won’t see any advertising for Flower cosmetics—that money will go directly into the products themselves. It surely helps that the line comes in with a built in celebrity spokeswoman.

The packaging of the products is beautiful and some have a few innovative surprises. I’m a huge fan of the Pocket Triplets that will take you back to your days in elementary school. They have three colors (lipstick, shadow, or concealer/highlighter) in one handy “pencil” that you push up. You can even mix the three for the easiest touch-ups on the go ever! (Note: The three different products are sold separately.)

Also a big hit is the Zoom In Adjustable Mascara with an adjustable brush that lets you customize volume and length.

As for the formulas, many contain vitamins, are paraben-free when possible and all are made in the U.S. and never test on animals—they definitely rival anything you’ll find at the department stores with prices that don’t top $15. Don’t you love Drew just a little bit more now?

Flower launched this month on Walmart.com and in Wal-Mart stores exclusively.
