150 custom designed paper mache hearts are being auctioned off starting today to support CFDA’s Fashion for Haiti: One Million Hearts program in partnership with the Urban Zen Foundation. The hearts were handmade by Haitian artist, Magali Dresse, and are being customized by designers including Vera Wang, Zac Posen, Monika Botkier and more.
“Haiti needs attention, so I utilized neon safety paint to signify the urgency of this matter,” says Michelle Smith, designer and founder, Milly of the heart she designed. “The zipper and chain hardware are from the Milly ready-to-wear and handbag collections. My Heart for Haiti is strong, striking and beautiful; much like the island itself.”
All proceeds will benefit the Haitian Artisan project, which promotes economic development through job creation and vocational education while highlighting the creativity of Haiti’s artisans. The CFDA One Million Hearts Auction runs on eBay through May 2.
