Breakfast at Tiffany’s Comes to Broadway

We’re always suckers for a new interpretation of Holly Golightly, the heroine of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. This version, from the Target beauty geniuses Sonia Kashuk and Umberto is delightfully cliché free, as seen on the upcoming Broadway play’s start Emilia Clarke. (Does she look familiar? That’s because she stars in Game of Thrones as the ever-so-blond Daenerys).

For the makeup, Sonia Kashuk, a self-professed theater junkie “sought to create a ‘very fresh, elegantly refined, classic face’ that focused on highlighting beautiful skin”, as she told WWD.

As for the hair, Umberto created a style “that nods to the finger wave of the Forties, but with a more modern turn,” he told WWD. We appreciate that he resisted the attempt to do a carbon copy of Audrey Hepurn’s iconic French twist with tiara and baby bangs. A different actress demands a different hairstyle if she’s going to make the part truly her own.

Previews for Breakfast at Tiffany’s begin on March 4. Find tickets online.
