Due for a haircut? Hold out until April 22 to take part in Aveda’s worldwide cut-a-thon. Aveda salons from Tokyo to Sydney, Moscow to London and New York to Los Angeles will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most money raised for a charity by haircuts in a 24-hour period. It’s all part of Aveda’s Earth Month campaign to raise $5 million for clean water efforts across the globe.
The event in New York is at the Aveda Institute and 100 percent of the proceeds go to benefit Clean Ocean Action, whose mission is to restore, improve, and protect the water quality of the ocean and local water ways in NY/NJ. Haircuts cost $40, haircuts with student stylists cost $20 and blowouts are a mere $10!
Not lucky enough to live near an Aveda salon? The Light the Way Candle (shown above) is another way to support the cause. It is made with certified organic vanilla, cinnamon and ylang ylang grown in Madagascar and 100 percent of the $12 price tag goes toward clean water efforts in that country.
